This project is a comprehensive STEAM education management platform that streamlines academic and administrative operations for schools. It enables administrators, teachers, and students to manage attendance, lesson planning, assignments, surveys, monitoring and evaluation, and other day to day educational workflows through a unified web application.
Overview
I led the complete redevelopment of LearnOSTEAM, transforming it from an early stage Django monolith into a modern, scalable, API first platform. The project involved not only rebuilding the application's architecture but also designing and delivering several mission critical features that now power everyday school operations.
Building the Foundation
My journey with LearnOSTEAM began within the original Django monolith, where I played a key role in developing many of the platform's core educational and administrative modules.

Working extensively on the monolith provided invaluable insight into the platform's domain model, business logic, and operational requirements. It also exposed the architectural limitations that naturally emerged as the application grew, particularly around scalability, maintainability, and development velocity.
Architectural Transformation
As the platform evolved, I led the migration from the tightly coupled monolithic architecture to a modular, service oriented backend powered by Django REST Framework with a Next.js frontend.
This transformation resulted in:
- Improved scalability
- Faster feature delivery
- Better separation of concerns
- Cleaner, reusable APIs
- Significantly improved maintainability
- A more modern developer experience
Rather than simply migrating existing functionality, the new architecture established a solid foundation capable of supporting future growth while making the codebase substantially easier to extend.
Frontend Development
The frontend was rebuilt from the ground up using a modern React ecosystem focused on type safety, performance, and developer productivity.

Beyond feature development, I automated critical operational workflows such as school onboarding and user provisioning, dramatically reducing manual administrative effort while improving consistency and reducing the likelihood of human error.
