About the Project
Overview
BookMyStay is a modern, end-to-end rental booking ecosystem engineered to streamline long-term and short-term property rentals across Pakistan. As Co-Lead Architect and Full-Stack Engineer, I co-designed and built the platform from scratch, delivering a scalable, high-performance, cloud-native architecture optimized for seamless user experience and maximum security.
Core Architecture & Tech Stack
- Frontend: Built with Next.js for server-side rendering (SSR), optimized SEO, and dynamic user interfaces. State management and data fetching are handled seamlessly via React-Query for efficient client-side caching.
- Backend: Powered by a robust Django REST framework, handling complex business logic, user authentication, and data orchestration.
- Database & Storage: PostgreSQL hosted on Supabase ensures relational data integrity, while media assets are securely served through AWS S3.
- Cloud Infrastructure & Security: Deployed on AWS EC2 for flexible scaling, with integrated Cloudflare protection delivering DDoS mitigation, DNS management, and edge security. Server-side caching is optimized using Redis.
Key Technical Features
- Dual-Mode Booking Engine: Automated and manual approval workflows tailored for diverse host preferences.
- Localized Payments: Seamless checkout integration via PayFast, handling secure local currency transactions.
- Real-Time Communication: Event-driven WebSocket architecture powering instant host-to-guest messaging.
- Multi-Tier Caching: Combined Redis (server-side) and React-Query (client-side) to minimize database load and ensure near-instant page renders.
Co-leading this project from initial UI/UX wireframes to full cloud deployment highlights my capability to architect production-grade, end-to-end web applications that balance deep technical rigour with intuitive, responsive design.
